Description: Perennial undershrub. Leaf blade 5 - 16 X 1.5 - 6 cm, broadly lanceolate, widest in the middle, tapering to both ends, acute at the apex but not or only faintly acuminate, thinly herbaceous. Cymes dense. Pedicles up to twice as long as the calyx, sometimes shorter than the calyx. Calyx lobes 1.5 - 2 mm long, glabrous. Corolla tube 1 - 1.8 cm long, very slender. Merocarps 0 .5 - 0.7 cm long, connate with their lower half or a little beyond, minutely apiculate, glabrous, shining blackish-purple when ripe.
