Description: Slender, armed shrub about 1-1.5 m high; covered with a fine grey stellate indumentum, prickles variable in quantity. Leaves variable in shape, 4-13 cm long, 2-12 cm wide, finely stallate above, densely so beneath, Inflorescences leaf opposed, 2(-4) cm long, flowers about 12. Corolla blue-purple, about 2 cm diameter. Fruit orange berries, globose, 1 cm diameter; seeds discoid, 2 mm diameter, yellow.
