Description: An erect palm with a straight cylindric trunk, 13-26m tall, 20-40 cm in diameter. leaves pinnatisect, 1.3-2 m long, leaflets numerous, 3???60 cm long, sheath long and smooth. Spathes simple, glabrous, spadix branched monoceious, shortly peduncled, 30-50 cm long, branched paniculatly, branches filiform terminating in pendulosus male spikes. Flowers year round. Male flowers small, 3-merous, Female flowers 1-3 at the bases of the branches, much larger than male flowers. Fruit 3.2 - 5 cm long, ovoid, orange or scarlet when ripe. Seed ovoidly hemispheric, about 2 cm in diameter
