Description: Large tree, glabrous in all parts, upto 20 m high and 50 cm diameter. mature trees with deeply fissured, grey to blackish bark. Leaves chartaceous to thinly coriaceous, broadly elliptic to obovate elliptic, opposite, 10-20 cm long, 7.5-10 cm broad, base contracted into the petiole, rounded or emarginated at apex, petiole 1-3 cm long. Flowers white, upto 3 cm diameter, axillary, in racemes or raceme-bearing panicles, rather few flowers. Pedicels 2-6 cm long, sepals 4, petals 4 (rarely up to 8), stamens 6 mm long, ovary globose, reddish after pollination. Fruit globose, yellow or greenish, up to 4 cm diameter (usually 2-3 cm).
