Description: |
Tree, up to 5 m high, glabrous in all its parts. Leaves thinly coriaceous, ovate or ovate-oblong, 2.5 X 6 - 3 X 6 - 3 X 9 cm, acuminate, more rarely acute or cuspidate, base rounded; midrib very slender above, prominulous. Flowers in stalked, stiff, erect, axillary, 2 - 4 flowered racemes, near upper part of the branchlets. Fruit for the greater part enveloped by the enlarged, coriaceous, imbricate, depressed-globose sepals. Seeds 1 - 4, large, angular, dark red brown.
