Description: |
Perennial with long, slender stolons terminated by a globose tuber. Culms more or less solitary, erect, 50 - 70 cm tall, rigid, trigonous to tiquetrous above. Leaves few, shorter than to equaling the culm; blade narrowly linear, flattish-plicate, subrigid, gradually narrowed to acuminate apex. Anthela terminal or often becoming quasilateral with the lowest bract upright, simple or subcompound in part; leafy bracts 2 - 4. Spike broadly obovate, subloosely bearing 3 - 8 spikelets. Glume erect-patent. Achene oblong to ovate-oblong, trigonous.
