Description: Annual. Culms slender, 3-sided, smooth, glabrous. Leaves basal and on culms; blade narrowly linear, shorter than culm, glabrous, 3-costate, flattish or involute, apically weakly scaberulous; sheath yellowish or slightly reddish-brown. Inflorescence a terminal linear spike, with densely arranged 7 - 25 small clusters of spikelets; bracts scale-like, light brown. Bisexual spikelets in groups of 2 or 3, sessile or nearly so; glime ovate or lance-ovate, rusty-brown and densely lineolate with deep red.
