Description: Large evergreen tree, -40 m tall; twigs stout, with prominent stipule scars. Leaf bud -15 x 6 mm. Stipules -13 x 3 cm. Leaves clustered round the twig apices; lamina 10-25 x 7.5-14 cm, thickly coreaceous; nerves 15-18 pairs; petiole 2-5 cm long, about 2-3 m diameter. Raceme -14 cm long; flower bud -25 x 8 mm. Fruit a samaroid, calyx tube -2.5 cm diam., subglobose, with 5 more or less prominent ribs ; two longer lobes -13 x 3 cm.
