Description: Small, evergreen tree or shrub, 2 - 5 ( -8) m tall. Leaves membranuous, drying pale yellow-green; lamina 5.5 - 13.5 X 1.5 - 5 cm, elliptic-oblong to ovate or obovate-lanceolate, long caudate-acuminate, base acute. Male spikes greenish-yellow, 3 - 9 mm long, in clusters of 2 - 5. Female flowers sessile, clustered 3 or 4 together. Fruit 6.5 - 9 X 5.5 - 7.5 mm, globose to ovoid, 2 - valved, chocolate-brown to red, in axillary clusters of 3 - 4. Seeds usually solitary, c. 6 X 4.5 mm, subglobose.
