Description: Shrub or small tree, 1.5-10 m tall. Branches fulvous- or ferrugineous- pubescent when young, becoming subglabrous. Leaves alternate or subopposite: lamina (5-) 8-16 (-23) X 1.5- 6 (-8) cm, ovate to ovate- lanceolate, apex rounded- obtuse or acute- acuminate, obtuse to rounded at base, entire to very minutely and sparsely denticulate. Male inflorescence terminal, spicate or obscurely subracemose. Male flowers sessile, subsessile or with pedicels rarely reaching 1 mm long. Female inflorescence more or less as male. Female flowers sessile or subsessile. Fruit 3- lobed, subglobose, densely crimson granular- glandular. Seeds 4- 5 mm diameter, globose, smooth, black.
