Description: An evergreen or deciduous banyan or tree, glabrous, without aerial rots from the branches. New leaves pink. Stipules -15 mm, but larger on opening shoots. Lamina 7-26 x 4-16 cm, ovate to cordate with a very long tip, basal veins 2(-3) pairs; petioles 35-130 mm long, mostly longer than the lamina, Figs axillary, paired, sessile, ripening pink, purple, and black; basal bracts 3, 3-5 mm long, silky-puberulous. Body 8-11 mm wide (10-15 mm, living), orifice closed by 3 apical bracts. Male flowers sessile in one ring. Gall- and female flowers sessile, red-brown, sessile or with a stalk -1.5 mm long. Lamina with cystolyths only on the lower side.
