Description: Prickly shrub, stems to c. 1.75 m high. Leaves ovate-elliptic to obovate, 4.3 - 10.5 X 1.8 - 5.5 cm, tapering to base, mucronate, glabrous above with copious cystoliths. Flowers large, solitary, becoming spicate in upper axils. Capsule ovoid-oblong, 1.2 - 1.6 X 0,9 - 1.1 cm. seeds 2, oval-oblong, 8 X 5 mm, with adpressed, silky hairs.
