Description: |
Small tree, 15 m tall; young parts pubescent. Leaves with 3-11 pinnae; young leaves purple-red; the lower pinnae 1.2-3 x 1-2 cm, the upper 3-12 x 2-6 cm, pubscent; petiole 1-4 cm long,; rachis 4.5-10 cm; petiolules 1-3 mm long. Inflorescences 1.5-7.5 cm long, mainly cauliflorus. Petals red-purple. Berry fleshy, 4-12 x 1-7 cm, with 5 acute longitudinal ridges, orange-yellow when ripe, stellate in cross section. Seeds mostly one in each loculus, brown, about 6 mm long, enclosed in fleshy, white, bilobed aril.
